REPUBLICANS DO NOT UNDERSTAND PROPAGANDA

Ronald Reagan did: “The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

When presented with a story line Republicans know to be false, GOP’ers do not address the lie they address the outrage at it existing, at all.

Republicans are wide-eyed, mystified and petrified at the concept of an un-truth. Truth is not a subjective term. Liberals live in subjective reality so it fits to make it whatever the flavor of the month may be. Republicans are rooted in foundations that rest upon those truths. It is almost impossible for a Republican to be faced with a bald face lie and not object to the lie itself. The topic still gets through.

“Propaganda can serve to rally people behind a cause, but often at the cost of exaggerating, misrepresenting, or even lying about the issues in order to gain that support.

While the issue of propaganda often is discussed in the context of militarism, war and war-mongering, it is around us in all aspects of life.

As the various examples below will show, common tactics in propaganda often used by either side include:

Using selective stories that come over as wide-covering and objective.

Partial facts, or historical context

Reinforcing reasons and motivations to act due to threats on the security of the individual.

Narrow sources of “experts” to provide insights in to the situation. (For example, the mainstream media typically interview retired military personnel for many conflict-related issues, or treat official government sources as fact, rather than just one perspective that needs to be verified and researched).

Demonizing the “enemy” who does not fit the picture of what is “right”.

Using a narrow range of discourse, whereby judgments are often made while the boundary of discourse itself, or the framework within which the opinions are formed, are often not discussed. The narrow focus then helps to serve the interests of the propagandists.

Do you think any of those elements is missed by today’s press?

Today’s press is literally owned by one side of the political spectrum. One political party has managed, over many years to collect like minded investors and put that money into controlling the national message. The fact that so few companies own the majority of American press and news outlets is indicative of a purpose.

Given that the message is controlled to fit a narrative there is no potential off target message except Fox News and that pesky Internet citizen journalist. Big tech can handle the on line citizens. They only need to ban them. Fox News is moving every day to the same despicable narrative as the rest of the press. Tucker Carlson has even had to literally point out that his show does not follow the talking points.

The people; viewers and listeners of the controlled media are at their mercy.

President Trump tries to make a news content difference: “The Democrats, together with the corrupt Fake News Media, have launched a massive Disinformation Campaign the likes of which has never been seen before. They will say anything, like their recent lies about me and the Military, and hope that it sticks… But #MAGA gets it!” A tweet posted 9/6/2020.

It is true that his followers do indeed ‘get’ that the lies are indeed lies. But it isn’t those people propaganda is meant for.

For propaganda to work it requires a basic foundation in the propagandist that is convinced that people are stupid, people are lazy and people are willing victims if their emotions can be tickled.

The problem with GOP’ers (MAGA) is that they are not stupid, they are not lazy and they are never willing victims. The weaker ones may tilt toward their emotional outbursts but the very reason why this country is slow to react is the majority of Americans are indeed not stupid, not lazy and not willing victims. They do not normally react emotionally unless they are very very much provoked.

Take down two towers and that is provoked. Attack a fleet of ships at harbor and that is provoked. The slow, continous barrage of lies and deception using selective stories, partial facts, outright lies and ‘experts’ and talking heads who support the same talking points hides the reality of that result but more importantly it hides the trigger for the outrage.

People need to hit the ground with both knees at the same time to wake up to the horror of whatever put them there. It is human nature.

It is already long established that the false story of President Trump dishonoring veterans killed in action is in fact a bald face lie. So since it has, this is now the direction of the propaganda:

“Former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel blasted President Donald Trump Sunday for comments he allegedly made about members of the U.S. military — with unnamed sources claiming he called them ‘losers’ and ‘suckers’ and questioned their motivations for pursuing a service career, according to an explosive report published by The Atlantic.

‘If they’re real, it’s beneath the dignity of any commander-in-chief. Truly, they’re despicable,’ Hagel said of the purported remarks in an interview on ABC’s ‘This Week’ Sunday.

On Thursday, The Atlantic published the story which described the alleged disparagements and what it described as Trump’s private views on the military, resulting in swift and vocal backlash from the president’s critics. Trump and numerous members of his staff present for some of the events referenced in the article have denied the report and labeled it a ‘hoax.’

ABC News has not independently confirmed The Atlantic report, which cites four unnamed sources with direct knowledge in making the claims.

Those who have come to the president’s defense have been quick to note that the report relies on anonymous sources. Hagel acknowledged that fact Sunday and urged those sources to come forward.

‘I think it’s important now, if these guys who said this — or allegedly said it — think it’s that important for the future of this country, then they should show some courage and stuff for it as well,’ he told ‘This Week’ Co-anchor Martha Raddatz.

But Hagel went on to point out Trump’s record of public disrespect toward the late Sen. John McCain and members of his administration who served in the armed services.

‘Let’s go back and look at Mr. Trump’s words himself, coming out of his own mouth, starting in 2016 and what he said about John McCain and what he continued to say about McCain. How he degraded the service of Gens. (James) Mattis and (H.R.) McMaster, and just recently, Gen. (John) Kelly,’ Hagel said. ‘The history of — of this president over the last three and four years is — is pretty clear.'” [2]

To support this narrative the Democrat press has resurrected Arizona Senatory John McCain. Why? Military, service in office, and Trump attacked him. That is called inductive logic and fatal to thought but in propaganda it is necessary to direct a topic to support another totally unrelated topic.

Almost every single Trump action in this despicable list are topics that are acceptable and applauded by most conservatives but to liberals and Democrats these are horrible things. (Many never happened!, Most are outright lies!) In fact, you can go down this list and pretty much either agree with what was done or know the topic falls under the category of ‘bullshit’. But this is what the public knows about. This is propaganda. These (up untill February of this year) are what Democrats are basing their lives on. Lies.

President Trump interfered in the military’s ability to self-regulate behavior and restored Eddie Gallaghers rank, despite urges from military officials not to do so. Navy Secretary Spencer commented: “This was a shocking and unprecedented intervention in a low-level review. It was also a reminder that the president has very little understanding of what it means to be in the military, to fight ethically or to be governed by a uniform set of rules and practices.”

Sharpiegate 9/1/2019 On September 1st, Mr. Trump warned in a tweet that several states would be hit by Hurricane Dorian, including Alabama. Immediately after his tweet, the national weather service responded saying that Alabama would not be hit by the hurricane. Three days later, on September 4th, President Trump presented a map showing the projected path of Hurricane Dorian, with a black sharpie-drawn line adding Georgia and a small part of Alabama to the projection. It is suspected that he drew the line himself in order to justify his initial claim. The incident became known as ‘Sharpiegate’.

Leaking of Picture of Iranian Space Center 8/30/2019 President Trump tweeted a high-resolution picture of a destroyed Iranian space center. The release of the photograph was unnecessary and revealed US surveillance capabilities to the world. J. R. Clapper Jr., a former director of national intelligence, commented: “You can bet every adversary is going to school on what’s been exposed. I can’t see what the point was, other than to make fun of the Iranians.”

Ukraine Scandal 8/12/2019 Mr. Trump withheld military aid in order to force Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. At the time, Joe Biden led the polls with a comfortable lead for the democratic nomination, making Mr. Trump’s maneuver an abuse of the power of his office for his personal political gain. As a consequence, the House of Representatives impeached President Trump on Dec 18, 2019.

Death of Otto Warmbier 2/27/2019 The American college student Otto Warmbier was arrested in North Korea in 2016. He died shortly after his release from a North Korean prison in 2017. After meating the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, Trump said: “He tells me that he didn’t know about it, and I will take him at his word. I don’t believe that he would have allowed that to happen, it just wasn’t to his advantage to allow that to happen.” Warmbier’s parents strongly criticized Trump’s statement, saying “Kim and his evil regime are responsible for the death of our son Otto. Kim and his evil regime are responsible for unimaginable cruelty and inhumanity. No excuses or lavish praise can change that.”

Despite this warning, which came about a month after the Justice Department notified Mr. Flynn of the inquiry, Mr. Trump made Mr. Flynn his national security adviser. The job gave Mr. Flynn access to the president and nearly every secret held by American intelligence agencies.

After it became clear that Mexico would not write a check for the wall, Trump altered his narrative, saying he had “never meant they’re going to write out a check”. This is a lie, as Trump had repeatedly suggested that Mexico would make ‘one time payments’.

Access Hollywood 10/6/2016 In 2005, Trump and Bush were in a bus on their way to film an episode of Access Hollywood. In the video, Trump described his attempt to seduce a married woman and indicated he might start kissing a woman that he and Bush were about to meet. He added, “I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. … Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

Hinting at Assassination of Hillary Clinton 8/9/2016 At a rally in North Carolina, Mr. Trump argues that second amendment people might stop his rival Hillary Clinton, thereby hinting at her assassination.

Remarks on Megyn Kelly 8/8/2015 After the first Republican Debate, Mr. Trump said with regards to Megyn Kelly (who was one of the moderators of the debate: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” Later on, he defended his statement, saying he did not refer to Ms. Kelly’s menstruation. “I think only a degenerate would think that I would have meant that” he said.

Trump calls Mexican Immigrants ‘Rapists’ 6/16/2015 As Mr. Trump launched his campaign to become the nominee for the Republican Party, he said with regards to Mexico, “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists”

Trump University 8/26/2013 Mr. Trump is personally liable for operating an investment school without a required license. Furthermore, the school, initially called ‘Trump University’ had to alter ist name to ‘Trump Entrepreneur Institute’ in 2011. The organization ultimately had to close down for fraudulent business practices, where “Mr. Trump used his celebrity status and personally appeared in commercials making false promises to convince people to spend tens of thousands of dollars they couldn’t afford for lessons they never got.” (New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman). In a class action suit, Mr. Trump settled for 25 million USD.

Affair with Stormy Daniels 7/25/2006 Trump had sex with adult film actress Stephanie Clifford while being married to Melania Trump. The affair leaked after the 2016 election and is closely linked to the scandal around Michael Cohen.

Mr. Trump commented on the disclosure saying it was misinformation and merely another partisan attack against him.
Sharpiegate	9/1/2019	On September 1st, Mr. Trump warned in a tweet that several states would be hit by Hurricane Dorian, including Alabama. Immediately after his tweet, the national weather service responded saying that Alabama would not be hit by the hurricane. Three days later, on September 4th, President Trump presented a map showing the projected path of Hurricane Dorian, with a black sharpie-drawn line adding Georgia and a small part of Alabama to the projection. It is suspected that he drew the line himself in order to justify his initial claim. The incident became known as ‘Sharpiegate’.
Leaking of Picture of Iranian Space Center	8/30/2019	President Trump tweeted a high-resolution picture of a destroyed Iranian space center. The release of the photograph was unnecessary and revealed US surveillance capabilities to the world. J. R. He ultimately did lift the sanctions. 4) The president personally intervened in a plan to relocate the F.B.I.’s Washington headquarters, apparently to protect Trump International Hotel, which is about a block away. If the F.B.I. had moved, its current site would most likely have been turned into a commercial development, and the long construction process — as well as potential for a new hotel on the site — could have hurt the Trump hotel.

In the video, Trump described his attempt to seduce a married woman and indicated he might start kissing a woman that he and Bush were about to meet. He added, “I don’t even wait.
