Artificial Intelligence as an industry, faces a reckoning. Too many jumped on board, too soon. Too much money has been wasted on a completely fake technology.

Used to be, back in the days of the amazing Marvin Minsky [1] and the Great Aaron Sloman [2] two different focuses were competing for the attention of Intelligence research. The computer and the philosophy of function. The computer won that argument after what had come to be called the ‘AI Winter’ [3] as ORGANIC function is hard and foreign to computer scientists. The hunt for how the brain works changed to how to make a thing look like how a brain works. Form, on the other hand: is easy. Its visual. Function IS NOT. How brains do what they do became unimportant when computer coders came up with how to mimic what they do. The mimic has become the focus. And that…… well… read on.

AI steals. It does not learn. What is input: is input as it is; it is not entered into ‘the brain system’. No matter how much computer mavens want to declare their creations learn, they do not. They store data and use it. They may adapt that data but it is not thinking. The brain DOES NOT consist of ‘neural networks’. The brain DOES NOT weigh things. Where AI simply duplicates what the brain outputs, it has NOT ONE CONNECTION TO HOW THE BRAIN ACTUALLY WORKS. And it is that actually works, that separates AI from reality. Input remains input and that is theft,if it is not attributed and quoted. Copyrights are the jurisdictions of the United States Courts. They will be heard.
AI PROBLEM 1:
The brain does not think in words, or pictures, or sounds, or smells, or tastes, or pressures, or temperatures; or any other external input. When a human reads an article and then writes a synopsis of that article, as long as the human does not quote the article without attribution, the article is not copying. It is perceived and then output is created to report that perception. AI CANNOT PERCEIVE. AI lives in the world the programmers live in. NOT the brain’s world, AT ALL. The brain converts all inputs into what amounts to potentiometers of brain signal. What that signal is, is another problem. But we will deal with that in its own time.
AI PROBLEM 2:
Minsky is at fault here. Too bad. I liked the guy. He called it ‘The Society of Mind’ [5]. Quoted from Wikileaks’ quote of the book, The Society of Mind, p. 308.

That statement is ignorant and completely false.
1: He never knew what intelligence is. Never bothered to find out.
2: Imposed ‘diversity’ as a cause. THAT IS STUPID!
3: Expected a system to exist at his level of ignorance. THAT is human nature. Humans have always dumbed down something new to match what was already known. Ignorance has ruled for that very reason.
So enough beating up Marv.
Aaron Sloman built some of his philosophy work on Minsky’s thoughts but logicism got in the way. “The term ‘logicism’ refers to the doctrine that mathematics is a part of (deductive) logic.” [6] Sloman caught that. Minsky did not. Mathematics is a language that describes observations and functions. It is NOT what is being described and that is Minsky’s error. (Sorry ok enough beating up Marv.) It is also the entire error of AI. AI is a method to describe what the brain does. It is not how the brain does it. When AI became functional it turned a description into the point. Science has always considered the menu to be the meal. I found Aaron to be a most impressive genius. A great guy too with great advice and I consider him a true friend.
Back to the brain: That perfect principal is how it works. It all works the same way. In its own system. In its own functions. Completely devoid of any human reference like the observer matters before its real, or creating phantoms out of observation.
IT IS TIME STUPID GETS THE HELL OUT OF SCIENCE.
That does not mean AI is a waste of money. On the contrary. Imagine with all the power of AI now:
How powerful would it be IF IT WAS REAL?
I wouldn’t invest in AI now. But then again, I know what’s coming.
And yes, it will be public in time. You will be given the information in simple to follow training courses that will teach you how the brain does what it does, and how you can use that knowledge to solve your depression, catch errors, balance a budget, catch thieves, stop the anger, stop the wars, stop the hate, make programs that ARE ACTUALLY INTELLIGENT (and yes, self aware is possible.)
Yes, we can all get along when we realize we are ALL THE SAME.
But AI?
Ah.
No.

P.S.: If you want to know what intelligence is, take the intelligence test. It is NOT the typical IQ test. TAKE IT TWICE (Instructions are part of the test!!!)
