DOWNLOAD ROACH IA GAME


IA = Intelligence Artificially. NOT AI. This game is so old that it cannot run on a modern PC. It is offered here for download if you have an old PC to run it on, or can modify it to work with something from this century. All those years ago a great guy from Spain, Juan Vilaseca Corbera (we lost contact shortly after the IA program was developed and have not found him since) wrote the source code based on the algorithms provided to him. It was a fun game for its day.

Roach was a game that provided just that. A roach walked about the kitchen floor, sometimes hiding along and under the baseboards, sometimes not. The quest of the game was to lure the roach out of the baseboards with candy, then grab the roach killer spray can and try to spray it.

Problem was, the roach learned your actions and responses and became harder and harder to kill with each attempt.

IA is wonderful and not at all like AI. This game replicates the long term process of a brain and not short term. We didn’t want a self aware roach.

THE FEEDME BRAIN

Every time you open this page it is a new function. Reloading the page will not do anything other than erase the brain function underway. So stay put on the page as you play with the fruit and water. And remember, this is NOT video game quality, is not here for looks and takes a bit of getting used to. Study it, don’t just run away. Its old! Many years ago, as one of many different demonstration programs written in APE* The FEED ME Brain was born. This does not play well in small browsers. What you are looking at is a display on the left, which shows what the brain’s output is… and whether it needs a drink. Too much fruit.

On the right are your selections. Click a fruit and watch the brain react to it based on previous picked fruits. But.. when you see THIRSTY give the brain a drink!

Keep in mind this is a single operational platform so many users at the same time will change what you see… Call it a collective effort. Or laziness.. what ever.

THE IGGIT BRAIN


This single pathway model of the human brain is written in PERL using the APE Protocols. APE = Architectural Programming Environment. Three dimensional. This application is written so it follows exactly half of the average base rates of the human brain. Long term is running 30 times per second (this is half as slow as the human brain in long term which is based on 30 per half second.) Short term is running 30:1 over long term, meaning short term is actually processing at 900 to 1, which is 1800 per second in the brain. Motion output is reduced to 10:1. You are seeing colors made by the brain functions. This is basically the same as seeing one color and reacting to it, then output motion. Colors… loads of colors… all from input and previous input.

Your input of a color selection is processed in the exact same algorithm (no Boolean, no rules, no if-then)as the human brain and programmed in APE*.

LITTLE RICCI


Little Ricci (Real Independently Controlled Computation Intelligence) is the hardware version of the Iggit and Feedme brain functions displayed here. Built in 1995 and 1996, Little Ricci operated completely in Neutricity except for the motor that made it move and caused its wheels to turn. It is made of standard electronics parts that are running Neutricity and not electricity, except the motor.

See the Little Ricci Rises page on this site for more detail and click the photo of this text to watch the video of Little Ricci’s test sessions. Well, not all of them ‘somebody’ didn’t bother to remember a camera on a few of them. ‘Somebody’.

Little Ricci now resides in a crate stashed in a spare bedroom. It will never be started again. It had one existence and was not turned off until testing was complete. Over the years Arizona heat has not been cooperative and a few sections are drooping but for a display piece as the world’s first and only fully autonomous robot running without computers and without remove control its pretty impressive.

ROACH WALKER

The Roach Walker is just a simple script placed on a web page that allows the Roach art used in the game to walk all over your page. Its rather silly. But. This image was first used way back in the early 90’s of the last century as the character in a computer game called Roach!

It was a fun game even though by today’s standards its crude and ugly. But the star Roach is still cute !

Now you too can have Roach! in your website. Make it a page of its own or follow the directions on the page to make it part of your page without the background.

It will walk on top of your website confusing visitors, making friends feel sorry for you and making enemies think they’ve simply gone home.
